Picture mount styles
Background
The wide variety array of mountboard colours, thicknesses and the availability of slips makes the possible combination of mount styles nearly infinite! You can rest assured that we can identify a mount style to compliment your artwork. Below is a summary of some mount styles and effects available to you from Cowal Frames.
Mount Styles
The following shows a sample of what effects can be achieved while mounting a picture.
Standard Single mount (1.4mm thickness, white core mountboard)
comes in a variety of colours see mount colour chart for details
Double mount (2 x 1.4mm thickness, white core mountboard)
Can be made in a variety of colours see mount colour chart for details. Precision cut double mount with high degree of accuracy. Give nice depth to your framed artwork.
Sometimes you can use another colour as the second mount creating an striking outline.
2mm Deep Bevel mount (2.0mm thickness, white core mountboard)
Available in Alpine White only, see mount colour chart for details. Gives a nice depth and perceived quality to your framed artwork.
3mm Deep Bevel mount (3.0mm thickness, white core mountboard)
Available in Hayseed only, see mount colour chart for details. Gives a nice depth and perceived quality to your framed artwork. Picture here with an added v-groove (see below)
5mm Deep Bevel mount (1.4mm thickness, white core mountboard)
Available in any colour of mountboard, see mount colour chart for details. Gives a nice depth and perceived quality to your framed artwork.
Decorative effects with double mounts (2 x 1.4mm thickness, white core mountboard)
Available in any colour of mountboard, see mount colour chart for details. Gives a decorative effect to your picture mounts.
Decorative mounts can also include circular effects, and work in combination with straight effects as pictured.
Double 'Float' mount (2 x 1.4mm thickness, white core mountboard)
Available in any colour of mountboard, see mount colour chart for details. Gives a decorative effect to your picture mounts.
The top mount 'floats' above the bottom one as shown, giving a great impression of depth to your artwork
Triple mount (3 x 1.4mm thickness, white core mountboard)
Available in any colour of mountboard, see mount colour chart for details. Gives a decorative effect to your picture mounts. Each mount can be the same colour or different colours to suit your artwork. The widths of each mount can vary too.
Single mount with slips (1.4mm thickness, white core mountboard)
Available in any colour of mountboard, see mount colour chart for details. Gives a decorative effect to your picture mounts. Slips are available in Gold, silver and black. We stock various styles, so it's often better to ask what's available.

Embossed lines mount decoration (can be done on all mountboards)
Creates an embossed line effect on your mount. Adds perceived depth to your framed artwork.
V-groove mount decoration (mainly for 2mm+mountboards)
Creates a 'V-groove' effect on your mount. Adds perceived depth to your framed artwork.
